Jeffrey A. Smith

     Jeff holds four degrees in music: a Master of Music (Viola) from the Cleveland Institute of Music, a Master of Music Education from the University of Tulsa, a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Tulsa (with honor), and a Bachelor of Music (Viola, with distinction) from the University of Kansas.  He received his Technical and General FCC amateur radio licenses in May of 2020.  Jeff is a Juris Doctorate candidate at the University of Tulsa College of Law.

     Jeff is a Digidesign (now AVID) Certified HD -7 Pro Tools Operator (Audio Engineering) and is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (N.A.R.A.S.).  He has taught all instruments (strings, winds, and percussion) at all grade levels since 1979, and served as a contest judge, clinician, and the 1992 All-O.M.E.A. (All-State) Orchestra Chairman.  Mr. Smith, a founding member of the Tulsa Little Symphony, is currently the Principal Violist of the Signature Symphony Orchestra (Tulsa), the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra, and is the Violist in the Signature String Quartet at TCC.  He was a member of the Tulsa Philharmonic and Wichita Symphony Orchestras.  Mr. Smith is the Past President of the Oklahoma Chapter of the American String Teacher’s Association, and in the summer of 1996, served as the Principal Violist of the Twenty-Fifth International String Orchestra in Graz, Austria.  He is the President and Founder of SongSmith Records, a digital recording studio and record company.

     Jeff played “fiddle”, guitar, keyboards, and ran the monitor mix and the light show for Dale Christenson and Prairie Fire for ten years.  He also played with the Ray Marshall Band.  He has performed with several national touring productions including Camelot, Peter Pan, and Sunset Boulevard.  In the fall of 2002, Tulsa Public Schools honored Mr. Smith with an award for excellence.  In 2003, the Oklahoma Chapter of the American String Teacher’s Association named him “Teacher of the Year”.  In 2007, after twenty- seven years of service, Mr. Smith retired from public school life to concentrate on the development of young artists through SongSmith Records.  Mr. Smith has taught at the Barthelmes Conservatory of Music and has taught Recording Studio Techniques for Tulsa Community College.  Jeff and his wife, Robin, adopted their son, Edik, from Russia in 2010.  Mr. Smith has served as a member of the Signature Symphony Advisory Board.  In 2014, Jeff was the 2014 Gathering of the Oklahoma Guard (GOTOG) Chairman for the Patriot Guard Riders in Claremore, Oklahoma.  In 2016 he was elected Chairman of the Board for the PGR of Oklahoma, Inc.  He served as Chairman for four years and proudly rides his motorcycle to honor American Heroes as a Senior Ride Captain.  Inspired by his father, Distinguished Flying Cross recipient Ltc. Charles Lee Smith, a WW II P-47 Thunderbolt fighter pilot, Jeff has completed over 500 missions with the PGR to honor the Heroes and First Responders who serve and protect our nation.

Robin Hock Smith

     Robin Hock Smith is the Director of Artists and Repertoire (A & R) for SongSmith Records.  She is the Principal Bassist of the Signature Symphony Orchestra and the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra.  As an active bassist throughout the Midwest, Robin has performed with the Springfield Illinois Symphony, the OK Mozart International Festival, and as the Principal Bass of the Wichita Grand Opera Orchestra.  She has also performed on both double bass and electric bass with the national tours of many Broadway musicals including Camelot, Hello Dolly, Peter Pan, Chicago, Titanic, and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.  She was the Principal Bass of the 1996 International String Orchestra in Graz, Austria, and a member of the Melkus Ensemble performing with Eduard Melkus, then Professor of Violin at the Vienna Conservatory.  She has toured Russia and Poland performing in many different venues.  Robin and her husband, Jeff, adopted their son from Russia in 2010.

     An educator with over 30 years of experience, Robin is currently Adjunct Professor of Double Bass/Electric Bass at Oral Roberts University and also teaches strings at the Barthelmes Conservatory of Music.  She is a frequent guest coach at area schools and was a guest conductor at the 2011 Tulsa Metro Honor Orchestra Festival.  She taught first grade at Skelly Elementary School in Tulsa for ten years and taught strings at Mayo Demonstration School for six years.  She was the Assistant Instrumental Music Director at Edison Preparatory School for six years.   Robin holds a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Tulsa, a Master of Music in Bass Performance from the St. Louis Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Music in Bass Performance from Oral Roberts University.  She is currently a candidate for a  Doctorate in Educational Administration at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma.
